Abstract

With the many benefits that can be obtained from the habit baby massage performed by the mother, it is necessary once baby massage is used as a habit. But this attitude has been influenced by knowledge of mothers on infant  massage itself. Until now not known how the mother's level of knowledge in the area Widodomartani village, about the benefits of baby massage. The  bjective of this research to obtain the comparative increase in maternalknowledge about infant massage after receiving counseling and VCD playback. This study is a descriptive research approach to the pre test and post test. This study found that the value of significance (p) is smaller then 0.05: On theextension of Ho rejected and Ha accepted means that there are significant differences between mother’s knowledge level of infant massage before and after extension. On playback VCD Ho rejected and Ha accepted. This means that there are significant differences between mother’s knowledge about infant massage before and after the VCD playback. On increasing knowledge is rejected and Ho Ha received. This means there is no significant differencebetween the increase in maternal knowledge about infant massage compared with VCD playback with increased knowledge counseling. This study conclude that there were significant differences between the mother’s knowledgeabout infant massage before and after counseling. There were significant differences between the mother’s knowledge about infant massage before and after VCD playback. There were no significant differences between theincrease of mother’s knowledge after VCD playback and counseling method.Key Words: Knowledge, Infant Massage, VCD, counseling, Widodomartani

Abstract

One way to improve the quality of psychomotor skills to medical students is implementation of medical skills. Learning activities of medical skills in FK UII are communication skill, physical examination and procedural skill. Various activities of medical skill are largely carried out by using mannequins and imulated patients (SPs). Objective Structural Clinical Examination (OSCE) is used to assess the student’s performance in medical skills. The aim of this  esearch is to know the student’s perceptions about the role of SPs in the OSCE in FK UII and to find out the criteria of SPs desired by the students in assisting the activities of medical skills in FK UII.This research was conducted in FK UII through in-depth interviews. The respondents were 12 students from academic year of 2007, 2008, and 2009, for each year was taken 4 students. Based on criteria of active students and always take the OSCE exam in FK UII, then taken 2 students with the highest GPA and 2 students with the lowest GPA from each year. The information was analyzed using a constant comparative method by reducing the data using a coding system, categorizing data, synthesizing, and making a working hypotheses. The results show that the roles of SPs accordingto student’s perceptions are to help learning medical skills; to assist OSCE exam; and to train students before encounter with the real patients. Simulated patients in FK UII are often asked many questions, less cooperative, but more friendly. Most of SPs in FK UII are less appreciate in their acting. Simulated patients in FK UII are usually less understand about the disease, they act only based on the scenarios and the information presented by SPs is also less clear. In addition, SPs never give feedback to students. Students expect that SPs can act and appreciate their role very well, and can be more cooperative. So, simulated patients (SPs) in FK UII, especially that were played by non educative staff, were not conducted in student’s expectation. Keyword : Skills Lab-Simulated Patients-OSCE

Abstract

One source of danger in workplace is heat stress. Heat stress can cause changes in the cardiovascular system. The workload of heart will increase to regulate body temperature when body temperature rises due to exposure to heatstress. The objectives of this study were to find out the differences of blood pressure before and after exposure to heat stress on workers of Industrial Company Aluminium Yogyakarta. This study uses observational analytic methodwith cross sectional approach. The sample in this study that meets inclusion criteria is 25 people from two Industrial company Aluminium Yogyakarta (TS and ED). Data is collected by interview using a questionnaire to determine thecharacteristics of the respondents and measurements of heat stress, blood pressure in supine and standing position and axillary temperature. The statistical test performed using Wilcoxon match pair test with computer program. The average of heat stress in production section of Industrial Company TS Aluminium is 31.7 °C and ED Alumunium 32.6 °C. The average body temperature increased by 0.8 °C after exposure to heat stress (P <0,001). Systolic and diastolic blood pressure in supine and standing position decreased significantly after exposure to heat stress. Heat stress decreased systolic in supine (P<0,001) and standing (P<0.001) likewise diastolic in supine (P<0,001) and standing (P<0,001). Difference in systolic and diastolic blood pressure when changing body position prior heat stress compared to after heat stress no significant changes. Difference in systolic (P = 0.093) and difference in diastolic (P = 0.379). Based on this research, it can be concluded that there is significant differences in blood pressure before and after exposure to heat stress on workers of Industrial Company Aluminium Yogyakarta.

Abstract

The number of samples should be checked often can not be done immediately examination due to the limited number of laboratory personnel. This phenomenon is common in clinical laboratories and private land. This needs attention given the many factors that can affect test results. Pre-analytical factors that need to be considered is the examination time interval and sample storage temperature prior to examination. Examination of blood glucose is one of the frequent checks at the hospital. The method often used is glucose oxidase method with the serum as a sample. The purpose of this research is todetermine how far the impact of delays in the inquest and the influence of storage temperature on serum blood glucose levels. The study was conducted on 30 people consisting of patients and hospital employees who are willing. Criteria for inclusion were men or women aged 20 - 40 years old and willing to follow the research. Exclusion criteria were suffering from diabetes, severe kidney disease, or are pregnant. Each subject and blood samples taken as soon as possible done on a blood sample centrifugation to obtain serum. Serum from each sample was divided into 3 tubes, which will be examined: immediate and delayed 4 hours and each tube is stored at a temperature of 2-8 °C and 25-28°C. The parameters examined were the blood chemistry of blood glucose. Examination of blood glucose using glucose oxidase method. Sampling is performed by the method of consecutive (consecutive sample). Statistical analysis by independent samples t-test. The examination of serum samples from 30 patients and hospital employees who meet the criteria of inclusion and exclusion. Comparison of results of blood glucose levels at examination time delay between 0 hours and 4 hours to get results that are not significant (p>0.05). And blood glucose levels between groups of temperature 25-28 °C and 2-8 °C no significant difference in outcome (p>0.05). The interval 0 hour storage time and 4 hours at a temperature of 25- 28 °C (room temperature) and 2-8 °C (refrigerator temperature) does not affect the results of bloodglucose levels in serum samples.

Abstract

Birth weight was the most sensitif measurement tools and important to find out health baby status. birth weight baby less than 2.500 grams was included low birth weight infants. The proportion of low birth weight babies at 2000 - 2002 in Indonesia was about 9% (UNICEF, 2008). The aim of this study determine the risk factors that cause low birth weight babies (LBW). This research take 100 data from each respondent. The data consist of low birth weight babies (LBW) and infant birth weight enough (IBWE). Data collecting method in this research was using medical records. Data analysis technique used in this research were univariate and bivariate analysis with chi square test statistic (X2) at significant level α 5%. Results showed there was no significant relation between gender factor and low birth weight babies (LBW) (p = 0.256, RP = 0.85), there was significant relation between maternal parity status 1 and > 4 to the occurrence of LBW (p = 0.000, PR = 1.7) and there was significant relation between gestational age low birth weight (p = 0.000, PR = 3.37) which means that pregnancy was a risk factor for preterm low birth weight. Maternal parity and gestational age were a risk factor in low birth weight (LBW) but gender of babies was not risk factor in low birth weight (LBW).
